Christmas Social Media Evangelism Campaign Changes Lives

Jesus and Santa evangelism video

Jesus and Santa evangelism videoIt isn’t too late in the year to be still writing about Christmas, is it? I still haven’t taken down my tree or made a New Year’s Resolution, so I figure Christmas stories are still fair game. Hopefully you feel the same.

Anyway, I received word from Mel Micah in the Philippines of a great campaign that he ran during the Christmas season comparing Jesus and Santa. He created a webpage that uses a clever video that humorously points out the similarities between Jesus and Santa (such as “we send them both wish lists”) before taking a more serious tone and making it clear how different they are (you know, aside from one being fictional). While Santa determines our gifts based on whether we are naughty or nice, the video says, “Jesus came because none of us are nice enough.”

The webpage follows the video with more information about the real meaning of Christmas (spoiler alert: it’s Jesus), complete with some Bible verses for study. After explaining who Jesus is both through text and video, readers of the site are then given the opportunity to make a decision to accept Christ. The following prayer is included for those who aren’t sure how to go about such a thing:

Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins and paying the penalty. I open the door and invite you into my life. I want to know you. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me an eternal relationship with you. Amen.”

In the first 24 hours of the campaign, 512 people viewed the Gospel, 36 people indicated that they prayed to receive Christ, and 7 started a follow-up series to aid their spiritual growth. Not bad for a digital campaign that didn’t cost any money (the video had already been produced).

If you have a story about sharing the Gospel that you want to share with the Indigitous tribe, we encourage you to post one here. We would love to hear from you.
