Salutations,
My artistic namesake someone started calling me several years ago has stuck with me and hence birthed a movement in my soul. To share a little about myself, when i was in junior high I tried to end my own life because I couldn’t see what God saw. He showed His love for me in a way no one else had and when no one else was physically present and it made a lasting impact.
In college, He started peeling back the inspiration and making it blossom with a variety of art forms I have come to enjoy. Art is a beautiful and powerful but also less threatening way to share His love for you and others. I see tons of teen books on vampiric influence and people seeking power, but sadly, we rarely share the power of real love with our fellow human beings.
In Les Miserables, Victor Hugo writes, “To love another person is to see the face of God.” Though it is not from the Bible, this quote holds truth. We are made in His image. I am excited and prayerful about the Christian film industry growing. Stories and the technological aspects are advancing. We need to get better at our craft and keep discovering.
The world needs missionaries in film, writing, and the arts.
Publish your books, promote them on Facebook and social media, seek local art fairs once a month in your area as I am also doing. You don’t have to have much to start an art booth: a small fold-out table, some display props, your art to sell or in my case mannequin to display. Invest in flyers and business cards. You can seek out library community boards, local cafes, dental offices, event centers.
I want to encourage those of you who are artists or writers to be missionary artists.
