An Easter Short Film to Help You Talk to Someone About God

Raised film Moving Works

Later this month, Christians will celebrate the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. It is a time of great celebration and one of the best times of year to share the Gospel with those you know. A recent study found that only during Christmas time are people more open to hearing matters of faith.

Moving Works has created a short film series called Raised? that is intended to spark conversations about the resurrection, especially from skeptics. The film series, found here on the Moving Works website, is broken up into four parts that can be viewed at once or broken up over time. The film shares the story of Benjamin and Jessica Roberts, a couple who grew up in the church, turned away from their faith, and then came to accept Christ after a decade of struggling to live outside of faith.

After deciding to stop following God, they engaged in destructive behavior in an attempt to find happiness. From drugs and alcohol to gambling, Benjamin later admits, “None of it fixed the root problem in our lives.”

“Over ten years we’ve been trying to do everything we could to numb the pain of emptiness in our lives,” Jessica says. It’s an emptiness that they eventually learned could only be filled by Jesus. “If the same power that rose Christ from the dead is at work within me, that changes everything.”

Raised? is powerful because it takes you through the journey from doubt-filled churchgoers to agnosticism to saving faith. Moving Works describes the film as a depiction of “life inside and outside of faith in Jesus.” It’s perfect for sharing with any friend who is an atheist, agnostic, is of another faith, or just has some doubts.

Moving Works is a filmmaking ministry with a clear mission. According to Executive Director Peter Craig, their calling is to obey Psalm 105:1, to “make known among the nations what He has done.” The film is based on the book Raised: Finding Jesus by Doubting the Resurrection by Jonathan K. Dodson and Brad Watson.

For those who would rather use a feature-length film to share the Easter story, consider seeing Risen in theaters.
