Mission Media U Offering Digital Ministry Training Courses

Mission Media University, an online training platform that is “designed to help Christians to be more effective in making disciples and establishing churches,” has announced three new training courses. Each course is limited to 22 students to make it easier to connect with each other and the instructor, so you don’t want to take too long deciding whether you want to sign up. Each course will take five weeks to complete. Below are descriptions of the new courses being offered this fall.

Foundations in Media Strategy

Foundations of Media Strategy

In this class, students will learn about channels, personas and audiences. Find out the right media to use in order to start conversations that matter. Students will create personas and define the needs of their audience. (See our persona creation kit and our Indigitous SESSIONS on this topic). According to Media Mission U, “This course is designed for mission practitioners already using media as well as those who want to know how to begin. It provides a fresh approach to media strategy based on the research of Dr. Frank Preston.” (You may remember Frank from the Indigitous SESSIONS on “Why Rahmad Comes to Faith and Abdul Does Not.”)

The course beginsSeptember 15. Learn more and register here.

Story in Ministry

Story in Ministry
From MMU: “It has been said, ‘the one who has the best story wins.’ In reality,’the one who tells the best story wins.’ That person wins our attention, our interest and our loyalty. As Christ-followers, we have the Greatest Story Ever Told. Yet we do not always tell it well. We rob God of his glory when we do not inspire people to consider the only narrative that offers life abundant and eternal. In the Story in Ministry course, you will develop an oral, written or filmed story that you will use in ministry.’ (You can read some of our blog posts on writing here).
The course begins September 21. Learn more and register here.

Women Expanding Their Mission Through Media

Women in Missions
This is a course for women that is taught by women. Students will create a media project to increase their influence in the Kingdom. MMU says, “Whether your media is visual, written, audio, or social, you will learn what it takes to go from idea to reality.”
The course begins October 11. Learn more and register here.
Editor’s note: Media Mission University is a ministry of our friends at the Visual Story Network.
