New platform for Christian freelancers
Written by Peter Wilkinson, co-founder of Faith in Freelancers.
The digital age we are in, being online has become such an integral part of our daily lives. Expanding your fellowship amongst fellow Christians beyond your physical environment has never been easier. In fact, this is something we should be thinking of, to use the internet in creating friendships, working relationships, and in general fellowship.
Faith In Freelancers is a freelancer marketplace that focuses on Christians. It aims to bridge the gap between businesses and Christian freelancers around the world.
The vision of Faith in Freelancers is to provide economic opportunities for quality Christian freelancers by connecting them via an online platform with businesses and organizations around the world who need their expertise.
The idea started when we went to a Christian business event. At the event, the group was brainstorming ideas on creating funding for church planting. The conventional way of doing it is either through donations or a small business like a coffee shop. These have worked for so many years but require a dependence – surely there can be a way to empower the members of a local church. I really do believe that there is.
Faith In Freelancers, therefore, provides a way for businesses around the world to find Christian freelancers who might not be able to meet them face to face. And so, by creating economic opportunities for members of the Church (the Faith Body), the money can be kept inside the family of God and one can expect some business security and honesty dealing with a “brother/sister in Christ.”
Connections and fellowship
Faith in Freelancers has created a community of freelancers with the intention of glorifying God in their work. This is a fundamental aspect of Faith In Freelancers: We want to honour each other, glorify God, and work hard as it says in Col 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.“
We hold monthly prayer meetings where we as members, both freelancer and employer, can come together and pray for the platform and each other. Already we have created connections and a fellowship online. It is amazing seeing how we can be from around the world, not knowing each other, but by all being grafted into one family of God – it honestly feels like we are family.
Our goal is to create a culture on Faith In Freelancers where we are making God the centre, praying for others, and working with integrity. Imagine what we can do as God’s people, imagine how we and our customers can all benefit from God’s blessings as He is part of it!
We would love you to join us in this adventure of getting to know other Christians and working alongside each other. If you are a freelancer or someone looking for freelance work, please sign up. For others, help spread the word. I believe we could really make a change in people’s lives and help support churches. Wherever you are, we would love to get to know you and would welcome you to join us in our monthly prayer meeting.
