The Assembly of God Church in Côte d’Ivoire launched a digital campaign after only one week of training by Olivier Nimabe!
The National Director of Digital Strategies at Campus Pour Christ was invited to help the locals unleash the potential of evangelism in the digital space. The workshop was held from the 31st of October to the 5th of November; the church members were more united than ever!
Breaking the week into bite-size portions
The first day consisted of the vision of Indigitous and the significance of digital strategies in evangelism and discipleship. The workshop laid a foundation for the following day, where the attendees were introduced to GodTools—an application used to initiate conversations about Jesus. The third day introduced the Jesus Film Project App, which includes videos to help carry the conversation further and open opportunities for discipleship. On Sunday—the event’s final day—Olivier shared a sermon on God’s command to make disciples of all nations and the benefits of utilizing digital strategies among Christian communities.
The digital training week was a subset of the workshop series that ranged from familiarizing attendees with the internet as a tool for evangelism to training on using evangelistic apps to share their faith. Olivier is looking forward to the next edition of the series, which will include a thorough understanding of Facebook and its use cases.
Memorable moments from Ivory Coast
The highlight of the event for Olivier was “seeing pastors sitting with their church members to learn something new, which is very unusual.” The workshop united members from various backgrounds, including tech members, youth, and pastors by focusing on a single goal—evangelism in the digital space.
Olivier was impressed by the reception of the training and had the opportunity to address negative presumptions towards the internet. Before this training, most of the locals avoided using the internet under the assumption that it was a negative space. This event helped them understand its potential for global reach and evangelism. Many attendees were encouraged through the sessions and downloaded social media and other apps soon after to experience this newly discovered tool.
The church launched its digital campaign in the following week to encourage more people to explore using the internet to advance the gospel to the unreached. Two out of 50 attendees accepted Jesus as their savior through the event. “The digital ministry was unleashed, the evangelist ministries were restored, the sick were healed, and souls were saved,” Olivier concluded.
