Innovators from #HACK Côte d’Ivoire explored the potential and power of digital missions, setting the standard for solving real-world problems. Here’s an inside scoop of all the defining moments and personal accounts.
A quick recap of the event
Indigitous #HACK is returning next month. Last year, over 60 innovators attended the #HACK event in Côte d’Ivoireon the 27th and 28th of October. We were excited to host a vibrant crowd of professors, students, church members, and professionals in the IT industry eager to contribute to the digital sphere. Day 1 centered around sharing the global vision of The Great Commission. Day 2 showcased the innovative ideas and projects developed by the participating teams and concluded with a comprehensive training program about the digital space.
Partnering with visionaries
MARie-LUcienne N’guessan, the founder of the MARée de LUmière training center and a prominent figure recognized across Africa and globally, gave an overview of blogging and its potential contribution to the Christian network. “The change we want to see in the world must start with us, around us,” she said. “To achieve this, nothing should limit us, neither our limited financial resources nor our young age, because youth is the perfect time to create great change.” She aims to train women, children, and people from disadvantaged backgrounds to utilize, benefit from, and create a significant impact in digital professions.
An external media team attended the hackathon and with the help of other attendees created a compelling short film on digital evangelism titled #HACK 2023 Un Étudiant Brouteur. The video aims to inspire and mobilize young audiences while addressing pessimism towards the concept. The film highlights opportunities for local and global communities to engage in missions actively, emphasizing the significance of cultivating meaningful connections through the digital space.
A defining outcome for #HACK
Six members from a local church joined the hackathon to explore digital ministry and integrate their learnings into their church. Their initiative has helped establish stronger connections within the church and enabled the members to reach out to other locals who are interested in exploring the gospel. “God is at work and He’s using ministry in the digital sphere to impact people’s lives,” said Olivier Niambe, the National Coordinator of Digital Strategies in Côte d’Ivoire and last year’s hackathon organizer.
