We are going to be building a secure mobile communications platform for missions that can be run entirely by a missions organization. Come join us!

The skill sets we are needing:

  • Your encouragement, energy, and skills!
  • Node.js
  • Angular.io (v4)
  • React Native
  • MySQL/MariaDB
  • HTML/CSS
  • Design
  • Videography
  • Sound Engineering
  • Writing (for video)
  • Video Editing.

This is going to be a collaborative hackathon not a competitive one.

Collaborative means that we are going to be working together as a team to solve one problem, not a competitive event for prizes.  The prize is the feeling of having done a specific good, maybe even saving lives, when we complete our project.  Collaborative also means that we will be really wanting to have a lot of Jr programmers at the event so we can team code.  Great for the younger programmers to help the more senior programmer solve problems, find bugs, etc.  This has been proven to be almost as effective as having two senior programmers on a problem.
I know that all of you will not be able to make it for all three days, but I want to encourage you to come out for any day that you can.  We have an amazing location that will hold all of us comfortably.
The teams that we will need for our MVP are the following:
  • Mobile Device (React Native) – Steve Connor will lead this team
  • Server (Node.js, Koa.js, MySQL) – I will lead this team.
  • Client Side (Angular.io v4 or 5) – Taylor Lamar will lead this team.
  • Security Team – I am working with off site consultants on this.  Our plan has already been approved of by security experts, just want to make sure our implementation is bulletproof.
In addition I really want a video team!!!!
We are going to be multiple day but not over night (till 10pm on Friday, 7am – 10pm on Saturday, to 8am – 4pm on Sunday) so eat breakfast at home.  We will provide dinner on Friday.  Lunch and Dinner on Saturday.  Lunch on Sunday.  Snacks and drinks will, of course, be provided.
Another difference is that we will have a totally optional worship service on Sunday at 11am.  We will have 100% geek lead Worship.  🙂  Heather Rapinchuk and Taylor LaMar will be leading worship and I will be bringing a message from the Bible.
If you have any questions, please contact me any time.
