Connect, build, and reach so people in your city can discover Jesus.
Indigitous to host 9th annual hackathon, a global event championing gospel-focused innovation in missions.
Indigitous is hosting its 9th annual hackathon in 2025 across the month of October. #HACK isn’t just for developers, it is a Gospel-focused event where like-minded participants from around the world collaborate to build projects that help people discover Jesus.
Save the Date: May 8th 2025

Indigitous will host the first #HACK2025 infosession, open to anyone interested in participating in or hosting a #HACK event in their city. The infosession will include an overview of the #HACK schedule, an announcement of the #HACK2025 theme, and an opportunity to hear stories from previous #HACK events.
Since its debut in 2016, #HACK has been the largest global collaboration with over 400 missional projects started and innovative ideas tested that directly impact local communities.
#HACK comes from the word hackathon, an integration of the words hack and marathon, and is traditionally an event in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming. #HACK, powered by Indigitous, is a different kind of hackathon, instead designed for people from every field and industry, from gaming to social media, to collaborate and build projects with a Gospel impact.

“Since we started with the first #HACK in 2016 the world has changed so much,” said Russ Martin, co-founder of Indigitous. “This last year at #HACK2024 we saw gamers, content creators, designers and others from so many industries host #HACK events with the goal of making an impact for the Gospel within their area of expertise. We realized that #HACK is for everyone.”
“When planning this year’s #HACK we asked ourselves, ‘who else might want to participate? What would #HACK look like for people who want to run innovation sprints at their local church? What could it look like for people who want to create social media content?’” said Jonah Jala, Global Director of #HACK2025 and Director of Digital Engagements at Indigitous.

Previous #HACK Projects
The map indicates where #HACK2024 was hosted.
#HACK2024 projects included a team in Panama collaborating to design a discipleship platform for migrants in the Darian Gap. The team prototyped a website with discipleship content from the Jesus Film to provide bus drivers with WiFi boxes loaded with discipleship content, ensuring the Gospel reaches migrants on their journey to Costa Rica.
In South Asia a #HACK team created ‘Christian Reel Templates,’ a social media account designed to empower individuals and churches in sharing the Gospel through ready-to-use Instagram and YouTube Reel templates. These visually appealing and easy-to-use templates simplify content creation, encourage collaboration, and help amplify the Gospel’s reach, especially among younger generations.
In Addis Ababa, #HACK participants created VerseWise AI—a cutting-edge biblical chatbot that addresses the limitations of traditional AI models. By incorporating a robust context management system, VerseWise ensures accurate and reliable biblical responses. This innovative tool empowers users to access biblical knowledge and engage in meaningful biblical discipleship, positioning the church to harness the power of AI for spiritual growth and understanding.
At #HACK2024 in Iloilo, the team created Moved to Move: Creatives Workshop, an initiative that empowers young Christians to share their faith online. Through mentorship, workshops, and collaboration, participants developed engaging digital content like reels and content strategies, leveraging digital platforms to spread the Gospel and fulfill the Great Commission.
