Connect, build, and reach so people in your city can discover Jesus.
Indigitous is hosting its 9th annual hackathon in 2025 across the month of October.
HACK isn’t just for developers, it is a Gospel-focused event where like-minded participants from around the world collaborate to build projects that help people discover Jesus.
As of August 29:
- 63 champions
- 27 countries
- 42 cities
have confirmed their plan to host #HACK this October.
In addition, 20 champions from 9 more countries and 18 more cities have also expressed interest in hosting.
One champion, Nathan Speich, together with his team and local ministries, is turning real needs in Columbus, Ohio, into clear problem statements. The Columbus team is inviting students from nearby campuses and recruiting mentors so every team has strong support throughout the event.
“We are excited to see faith-driven technologists, students, and ministry leaders team up to address real needs in our local community and around the world,” said Nathan. “In a single 12-hour day, that mix can produce working demos and concrete next steps that local churches and nonprofits can put to work right away. Best of all, participants leave with new collaborators who share their passion for building solutions to similar problems, and a plan to keep going.”
Another champion in Nigeria just wrapped up a week-long conference to prepare potential participants for their upcoming #HACK event.
“I’m incredibly excited about the solutions we’ll create and the immediate impact these projects will make in our community, and by extension, the world,” said Ola Okegbemi, #HACK Champion in Nigeria.
On May 8th Indigitous hosted its first #HACK2025 infosession, open to anyone interested in participating in or hosting a #HACK event in their city. Over the months of June and July, six regions across the globe hosted regional infosessions that provided interested attendees with contextualized information about hosting a #HACK event in their city. Indigitous leaders from Latin America, Europe, South Asia, North America, Africa, and Southeast Asia hosted these localized infosessions to create a space for participants to connect with fellow innovators in their regions.
“After several infosessions with the leaders in Indigitous’ regional networks, we are excited to see that people are responding and saying “yes” to gather those in their city to take the Gospel to new people, new places, and new spaces,” said Jonah Jala, Global Director of #HACK2025 and Director of Digital Engagements at Indigitous. “There isn’t going to be one approach, tool, site, app, video or link that connects 5 billion hearts to Jesus. We’re excited about different cities trying out social media campaigns, films, game jams, digital outreaches, and even game tournaments.”
Since its debut in 2016, #HACK has been the largest global collaboration with over 400 missional projects started and innovative ideas tested that directly impact local communities.
#HACK, powered by Indigitous, is a different kind of hackathon, designed for people from every field and industry, from gaming to social media, to collaborate and build projects with a Gospel impact. Marketplace professionals, pastors, and ministry leaders come together to see the gospel advance in their city.
Choose Your Own Adventure
Choose your own adventure is an expression of #HACK’s values: innovation, community, empowerment, and mission. These values are not bound by just one expression, like a traditional hackathon. Instead, there are many ways to take the Gospel to new people, new places and new spaces in this digital age. Whether it be through projects focused on social media, digital outreach, media or even game jams, #HACK Champions are invited to choose their own adventure after considering what ideas might best serve those they want to reach.
