“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to the whole creation. (Mark 16:15-16)'”
Imagine one day on which every person who follows Jesus shared the Gospel with someone. Think of the impact that would have on the kingdom.
May 28 could be that day.
Global Outreach Day is a worldwide effort to encourage believers together to intentionally share the Gospel with at least one other person. The official day is May 28, though many in the United States will take part on May 21 instead to avoid conflict with a national holiday.
In the past few years, God has used the Global Outreach Day to bring His kingdom to places like Ukraine, where a Facebook page quickly generated over 9,000 positive responses, and Costa Rica, that saw more than 8,000 people trust Christ through tract distribution. Check out this campaign for the Global Outreach Day this year in Japan, which features a multi-faceted approach including social media, prayer, performing arts, and one-to-one conversations.
So how can you make the most of Global Outreach Day?
- Pray – in the days leading up to Global Outreach Day, pray that God’s Spirit would be at work preparing peoples’ hearts to respond to Him. Throughout the day, pray that many will be bold and creative in sharing their faith, and that many would trust Him. Pray about who God wants you to share with.
- Promote – share about Global Outreach Day on your social media platforms!
- Prepare – who has God put in your life who needs to hear the Gospel? What means has He given you to share with them? If you don’t feel confident to share Christ with someone, we encourage you to check out some of these training resources here and here.
- Plan – decide ahead of time who you will share with and how. You could plan to use one of these apps, try Facebook outreach like Sarah did here, or for other ideas check out the Global Outreach Day website. And don’t do this alone! Gather a group of friends to dream up your own strategy for sharing the Gospel that day.
